Julie grew up making cross-country road trips, and has always loved to travel. She dreamed of one day retiring and living in an RV while traveling. KOA campgrounds are everywhere. They are typically easy to book and access as you travel. But, is it worth it?
We imagine downsizing into a 5th wheel to be simplifying life, but in some many ways it is anything but simple. Even something as seemingly simple as registering your camper can be anything but. Throw in a truck that is typically considered a commercial vehicle to tow that camper and you've got double the headache. And, what about that second car?
Although month 10 involved very little actual travel, it was one of the was busiest and stressful months we've had since we hit the road. Between trying to register a car, dealing with a cracked rim on the rig, and a leak in our black tank. It felt like there issues would never end.
The thing we missed most from our sticks & bricks? Our bidets. After over a year without them, we finally upgraded our toilet so that it could handle the bidet, and our bottoms thank us everyday.
Month 9 took us to 5 campgrounds in 3 states. It also brought us tornado warnings, a new toilet, and our first flat tire.

One of the great advantages we saw with full-time RV travel was the ability to stay where the weather was comfortable. What we've found is that it's easier said than done. In the last year we've experienced more cold and snow in our RV than in multiple years in our sticks & bricks.
At the base of Scott's Bluff National Monument lies Robidoux RV Park, a quaint little city-owned RV campground with everything we needed for a short stay to visit the monument and more.
